Print Design

Although there has been a huge influx of web-based design in recent years, print design is still one of the most accepted ways to advertise and promote your business, product or organisation.  Print design is based on letting the eyes walk over the information, selectively looking at objects and using spatial combinations to make page elements enhance and explain each other.

HomePage Development will create high quality, practical designs for logos, branding, signage, newsletters, brochures – all of your print requirements. All work is provided with full copyright ownership and final artwork is generated in a variety of file formats, ie .psd, .png, .ai, .eps and .jpg.  HPD have relationships with numerous print vendors and can supervise the production process.  Or if you prefer, we can work directly with your printer, submitting files as required by the printer.

Production of your design involves the creation of one, two or three overview concepts of your layout, in various colours. You then decide which elements from each concept are desirable and one further variation will be produced.

Below are a few categories of print design we provide for:

  • logos
  • stationery (print and email)
  • business cards
  • brochures
  • newsletters (print and electronic)
  • postcards
  • posters
  • catalogues

Graphics

Artwork from a website or low resolution images will not work for reproduction because graphics for print need to be at least 300 dpi (dots per inch). Without a high resolution, images become blurry and the pixels begin to show – even though they may look OK on the computer screen.

This means that gif, bmp, and most .jpg file formats are unacceptable because they are "screen" graphics and are only 72 or 96 dpi.  The only solution is to have an alternative higher resolution image elsewhere, or to redraw the artwork using the low resolution graphics file as a sample.

When submitting your graphics, files should be saved in PDF, EPS, PNG, TIFF or JPEG format.

Our Objective

Using typography, layout, illustration, photography, colour theory and an instinctive sense of style, print design is an effective means of communication.  Our objective of print design is to produce interesting, informative and inspiring pieces that extract a positive response from your audience.
